Nicknamed the "Gate City" in short of it's full nickname, The Gateway To The Northwest, Pocatello is a city often overlooked by those who pass by. Whether you know Pocatello for its once infamous city flag or as the home of the Idaho State University Bengals, it's a place that seems to have a connection to everyone. It's like the Kevin Bacon of small cities.
Conveniently located just two hours north of Salt Lake City, three hours east of Boise, and 45 minutes south of Idaho Falls, there's a lot to do in any direction out of Pocatello. There's no wonder why it was deemed the Gateway to the Northwest. If you stay on I-15 heading north you'll hit I-90 which will take you all the way over to Seattle. Or, stay on I-84 and you'll travel to Portland and the famous Oregon coast. So, next time you're traveling to the northwest, be sure to make a stop at the gateway and spend some time there, you might be surprised at what you find.
It might not seem like much, this town of just over 50,000 people, but when you begin to dig a little you find that there's more here than meets the eye. Take in an Idaho State Bengals game inside Holt Arena, or simply enjoy many of the city's stellar mountain biking trails. You could also visit Zoo Idaho or catch a dinner theater show at the Palace Theater.
For whatever reason you decide to visit Pocatello, there are about five more that we can add to your list. Whether you're looking for entertainment for families or just for adults, Pocatello can meet your needs.
Due to the city's centralized location in the intermountain west, it can often play host to conferences and business meetings. With plenty of hotels, venues, and restaurants, Pocatello is highly qualified to participate in such events. If you're looking for a spot for your next work conference or business trip, consider Pocatello.
Just to the north of the city you'll find the Shoshone-Bannock hotel and casino on the Fort Hall Native American Reservation. It's the perfect location for work and fun and shake hands and meet. Conference by day, then gamble and catch a live concert by night! You'll quickly learn that you don't need to leave a place when you have everything you want right there.
